Events at Newport Golf Club

Despite being the Saturday of the Pompy Cup Final and a wet and cold afternoon 28 people arrived for the free open golf day at Newport golf club.

All ages were catered for the youngest being 5 and the eldest 70!

All had no previous experience and made use of the wonderful practice Academy Course that is now available at the Club.

The introduction and first lesson was given by the club P.G.A. Professional Mr. Graham Darke who is most experienced in coaching starters in Golf up to fellow Professionals and has had a session of up to 90 at one event in the past.

All had despite the weather, a wonderful time and many will take up the game in the future. This is 3RD Open Day that has been held at the Club and the biggest turn out yet!!

The sessions at Newport are part of the plan to encourage people to play Golf and on the Academy Golf Course at the Club people can learn on their own area away from the actual Golf Course.

This facility is a great success with local Schools with sessions taking place during class time every week.
